Rainbow of Words

Words are frivolous, they are poor substitutes for expressions, more than often we let them out without weighing them; many a time we push them back into our system for they lack the subtleties of feelings. Maybe that’s why,  when we fail to get them right, especially during this season,  we cover up our limiting boundaries of speech with colours and say:

Don’t mind, it’s Holi!

Some instances, and some parallels…

When words leave you because you get cautious that they might prick some egos, for egos are like air balloons…

What’d you do then?

For me,

I would paint my feelings with white to make peace…

Sometimes you disallow words to be the sound waves because your voice doesn’t carry the right vibrations, as you are unsure- are you pronouncing them right?

How about I use pink to convey that I am still learning?

Words go missing when you sit and assimilate your surroundings because you get appalled by your reservations to see beyond your horizon.

My colour, certainly, is sky-blue then, for it would calm the agitated mind of mine…

Words may ditch you when you want to be explicit, your tongue turns jelly and they are swallowed back, nauseating you further.

I think…Orange hue will come to lift my wobbly courage…

Honestly, words are useless…for how will you express in those raw and jarring sounds, your deep, seething rage- tightening your chest, and yet you make an eye contact…

Red?

What word would you use when you choke while making a point, with tears swimming in your eyes and you smile to cover up?

Black to block the inner turmoil, what do you say?

Or when you have so much to say that you jumble them up, mix them up, and end up breathing heavily?

Green would come to lighten the heaviness…

And when you are so embarrassed that you prefer the earth to open up and swallow you rather than uttering them…

The earthy brown has to be the right choice, right?

Words bereft you in the morning, for you’d rather hear birds chirping and taking in the vibrant sky.

Yellow sunshine will light up my heart!

Words that, somehow, are never right,  which you would like to lend to broken hearts and souls?

Purple, I am told, fills you up with wisdom!

Words, which lose relevance,  for they keep repeating the same old woman’s day messages amidst the cries for justice?

What’s the colour of a Tulsi Plant which shrivels in winters? The parents in Hathras wait for it to bloom…

The nameless colour, the words are searching for…

Wish that you find words dipped in gold or silver to fill the lives around you with hope!

  1. Manjari, I can see how you are inspired and yet the words are all yours- rainbow hues. Your post proved how colours are a shortcut to our emotions. Racking my brains for that colour that would scream brilliant but then I’ll let my words do the talking. Magnificent Manjari. Bravo!
